Yes you can get your Belgian beer fix in Kathmandu. I found the Gaia Restaurant in the Thamel district.  A quiet serene little restaurant with a beautiful patio.  A perfect setting to enjoy a Chimay or a Duvel. And who knew that the primordial goddess of the earth would have such good taste..

During an 11 hour layover at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar it became apparent that there is no Qatari beer. Alcohol production is strictly prohibited in Qatar. The airport bar served Heineken, Stella and Balik, a Swiss barley wine. The choice was obvious... I had to go with the Balik.  It has a nice malt profile with oak, and a dry finish.  Should help me nap before the next flight. The airport is modern and efficient.
